Long-Term Residence Status
Third country nationals who have legally resided and continuously within the controlled areas of the Republic of Cyprus for five years, prior to the submission of the relevant application and who posses valid residence may apply for a long term Residence in Cyprus that allows to permanently reside in Cyprus without having to go through immigration procedures such as visas, issue, and renewal of temporary residence permits. It also allows them to enjoy the same treatment and rights as nationals in certain areas :

access to employment and self-employment activity

education and vocational training
-
social protection and assistance
- access to goods and services
- freedom of association of union
This category does not include non-residence students, internal asylum seekers, refugees living in the country, seasonal workers, home workers, diplomats.
The applicant should have adequate income from employment or/and other sources to support himself (and the dependents) and available suitable accommodation. Lastly, an employment contract of at least 18 months (or open duration) should be held by the applicant.
The examination period is usually 3-6 months!
